Recipes Compliments of the Nutrition Committee at Lake Whitney Elementary
Banana (nut optional) Bread
½ cup butter softened (vs. shortening or margarine)
½ cup sugar
2 eggs
1 ¾ cup whole wheat flour (vs. white flour)
2 t cinnamon (added)
1 t baking powder
½ t baking soda
½ t salt
1 cup mashed ripe banana
½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Cream together shortening and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Sift together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternatively with banana, blending well after each addition. Stir in nuts
Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 ¼ cups whole wheat flour vs white flour
1t baking soda
1t cinnamon (add)
1t sea salt
1 cup butter, softened
¾ cup organic sugar
¾ cups packed brown sugar
1 t vanilla
2 large eggs
2 cups of chocolate chips
1 cup of chopped nuts (optional)
